These are MUSTS! These things will ensure your experience and results are positive and that you are safe. Knowledge is key and there are things that may surprise you! Most high schools shows are booked by parent volunteers that turn over year after year. Most college shows are booked by student organizations. • IS YOUR STAGE HYPNOTIST LICENSED? There is a difference between licensed and certified. Hypnotherapists are not required to be licensed in most states. Hypnotherapists are not required to have any mental health training in most states Your stage hypnotist does not have to be licensed, however, a licensed mental health professional is better equipped to handle any issues that may come up (abreactions, James Madison University incident). • HOW MANY YEARS HAS YOUR STAGE HYPNOTIST BEEN PERFORMING? Experience is one of the most important aspects to look for when booking a stage hypnotist. Check out their website. Many stage hypnotists have a “sizzle reel” that only had video from one or two shows. Many stage hypnotists perform while “training” and use the footage for their promotion. • Does your stage hypnotist have reviews or willing to provide contact information for past clients? Any reputable stage hypnotist will be willing to provide reviews of their services and even provide client contacts with permission. If your stage hypnotist is not willing to do this, take that as a red flag • What kind of material does your stage hypnotist perform in their shows? Some of the following “skits” are in poor taste a. Age appropriate? b. Hypno-gun c. Speak Chinese d. Dance with the hypnotist e. Adult shows vs. clean shows f. Does the hypnotist make the show about them? • DOES YOUR STAGE HYPNOTIST PRACTICE SAFETY? Stage hypnosis has evolved over the years. Many stage hypnotists will have volunteers falling out of their seats or lying all over the floor. • DOES YOUR HYPNOTHERAPIST HAVE STAGE LIABILITY/MALPRACTICE INSURANCE? This is not something most clients think to ask. Any reputable stage hypnotist will have a stage liability/performance insurance policy. • PRICE? Most organizations are looking for a good price. Be careful if a hypnotist is booking a show for $300. • My typical fees: High school: $1200-1500, Colleges $1,200-$3,000, Casinos $3,000, Fundraising events (50% of the door). CONCLUSION/OUTRO FREE HYPNOSIS GUIDE I am giving everyone a free gift. My PDF Guide to Hypnosis. I’ll provide the link in the show notes and on my facebook page! https://detroithypnotist.convertri.com/podcast-free-hypnosis-guide NEXT EPISODE: Will be a surprise!
