Did you know: *Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year. *Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment. *People with an anxiety disorder are three to five times more likely to go to the doctor and six times more likely to be hospitalized than those who do not suffer from anxiety disorders. *Anxiety disorders develop from a complex set of risk factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, and life events. What is Anxiety? Anxiety is defined as a state of apprehension or fear resulting from the anticipation of a real or imagined threat, event, or situation. It’s one of the most common human emotions experienced by people at some point in their lives. However, most people who have never experienced panic attacks or extreme anxiety fail to realize the terrifying nature of the experience. Anxiety is a response to danger or a threat. It is so named because all of its effects are aimed toward either fighting or fleeing from the danger. Thus, the sole purpose of anxiety is to protect the individual from harm. Physical Symptoms *Increased adrenaline *Increased heart rate *Shortness of breath *Sweating *Feeling dizzy or unstable MENTAL SYMPTOMS *Fear of having a heart attack *Fear of passing out *Fear of vomiting *Fear of embarrassment in a public place *Fear of dying MYTHS *It is a mental illness, it is not Anxiety is a behavioral problem that can easily be corrected with the right guidance and information. That’s a really important point because many people fear that their anxiety problem is a sign of a mental illness. It is not. You feel the way you do because your nervous system is over sensitized. All the uncomfortable feelings, the anxious thoughts, the panic attacks, the general anxiety, are the result of this over sensitization. *You are in Danger you are not in any danger from a panic attack. A panic attack will not harm you. The fight or flight response that you experience during a panic attack is a built-in mechanism, going back to our cavemen days. It is there to protect you from danger, not to harm you. Rest assured that your body’s primary goal is to keep you alive and well. There has never been a documented case of anyone dying from a panic attack. Try holding your breath for as long as you can…your body’s function is to keep you alive. *Panic attacks are not your enemy; they are the result of you misinterpreting the signals your body is sending—a bit like a false alarm. Think of all the panic attacks you’ve experienced and how you’ve always come out on the other side — possibly petrified, but nevertheless alive and undamaged. Think about the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. Increased heart rate, shortness of breath, sweating, feeling dizzy or unstable. These are all the things we feel when we exercise or work out!!!! Anxiety is probably the most basic of all emotions. While it is, by nature, an unpleasant sensation, it’s not by any means dangerous. One of the biggest myths surrounding anxiety is that it’s harmful and can lead to a number of various life-threatening conditions. Tips and Strategies *Deep Breathing: Deep breathing is helpful, but anyone in the midst of an anxiety or panic attack can tell you it’s the last thing they are able to do *Refocusing your Mind: Again, in the midst of the overwhelming feelings, your mind is out of control! *Removing yourself from the situation: This may be necessary at times but it does not resolve the underlying anxiety/panic issues. Constantly fighting your feelings is not going to work!! Barry McDonagh is one of the leading experts regarding anxiety/panic attacks. 21-7 Method (counterintuitive) *When you begin feeling that anxiety or panic begin, let it happen!! Let it take full control and as it does, count backward from 21 to 0. This can be scary but you are letting yourself feel the feelings rather than fighting them. Once it has passed and your back to your “normal” physiology, take 7 minutes to relax, deep breath and bring your body to a deep state of relaxation Link to Panic Away program: Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase. https://1cfafkwiyhpbwkshedxykojn4j.hop.clickbank.net/ FREE HYPNOSIS GUIDE I am giving everyone a free gift.
